This is not the land of the free nor opportunity, this is the land of delusion. This is not the “American Dream” unless you are asleep and it is just that–a dream. We are living in a time where a growing populous of people’s retirement plan is suicide. We have higher rates of self inflicted death now than during the Great Depression. And to all you old timers and boomers who repeat the adage of “pulling yourself up by the bootstraps…” what bootstraps? They wouldn’t even be manufactured here in this country if that were a viable metaphor and option. Have you all forgotten that the future lies within the hands of the youth? Have you all forgotten that we are existing in an upside down pyramid of a silver wave where you all will need the assistance of the youth, who you are actively screwing over, to wipe your rear end for you? You all enjoy having a collective and convenient amnesia when it comes to history, but, let me remind you of the French Revolution. if there is no compromise, never mind compassion for fellow human beings, you will be met with pitchforks. And that is not a threat, that is a statement based off of a documented past. How much is enough? We all endured this pandemic while you stood upon your thrones emphasizing the importance of “essential workers” but by essential, as your actions have shown, you meant expendable. You’d like to say “get a better job” and in reality, not everyone is meant for or desires to be a doctor, a scientist, or an engineer- you have systematically formed a climate that makes a country’s citizens refugees- where things as simple and necessary as housing and shelter or even food and nourishment can’t be achieved by a hard working average citizen. Have we forgotten Maslow’s hierarchy? Basic needs must be met for a functioning member of society. You have made a system where using Afterpay to secure a tent to live in is considered an investment and security. You have made a system where purchasing a gun and bullets is no longer for self defense but is now for self inflicted death with dignity. We have people out here who didn’t make bad choices and are working 3 jobs only to sleep in their car at night- if they are lucky enough to have a car. When is enough, enough? The people are exhausted with your blatant heresy and lip service. And I fear if you do not finally and actually do something impactful now, they will. As the saying goes, “fuck around and find out.”
